About Bylakuppe — Namdroling Golden Temple
Bylakuppe, just across the district border from Kushalnagar, is one of the largest Tibetan settlements outside Tibet. The Namdroling monastery's Padmasambhava temple — the 'Golden Temple' — houses three 40-ft gilded Buddhas amid murals and prayer wheels. Dress modestly; photography rules are posted inside.
